DonDon: Savor Authentic Japanese Donburi in Clifton

Grabbed a pork katsu on my lunch break and the service was very quick. Flavours were great and portion size was perfect. Very excited to find this place so close to work, will definitely make it a regular spot!

I bought my Chicke Kaarage Donburi here once a week for over 3 years. I was never disappointed. Outstanding quality and quick service. I was working for a Japanese company and when they were visiting I would buy them lunch here and they were always impressed. They even tried to go by themselves on weekends. :D

I’ve visited here a few times now on lunch breaks over maybe last 2 years and I will say it’s impossible not to give this a 5star rating! My favourite and go to dish here is the fried chicken donburi, sweet and succulent chicken thigh, with a golden crisp with mouth watering flavours this dish really hits that Friday treat vibe. Freshly cooked sticky rice with that touch of rice vinegar and those pickles of the week always hit! And with that umami mayo with leak and garlic just tops off the dish. When I say this place is proper food it really is! Real flavours real food cooked with real passion! - such a diverse menu also, another favourite of mine is the Japanese curry, with potato, carrots and onion just hits the spot when you need something with big depth of flavour and warming. Really good spot this a hidden lunch gem! Price point is perfect, food quality and great service! Solid rating of 8/10!!! Keep up the good work!

Without fail my favourite lunch spot! Really filling dishes, incredibly good price, way beyond typical Japanese places around Bristol. Tasty, fresh and very healthy. Gorgeous presentation too, it’s just perfect all round!! Really enjoy getting the tempura bento, and I love the changing sides and pickles every week!

Street stall selling flavorful Japanese donburi. We had the chicken karaage donburi (rice bowl). You get to choose 3 toppings and they were all delicious. Available only every Tuesday though.

the donburis are priced reasonably (everything is below 10£!) there are some seats inside if you come when it isn’t too crowded, and the food was tasty! tried the vegetable tempura with rice, the dish could have had more dimensions and elements but for the price i’m not complaining. would try the bento next time to try all the pickled vegetables

The Owner (the man single-handedly running this place) is a super kind and friendly legend. Food is outstanding and very reasonably priced across the board. Always fast, always delicious, best Katsu Curry in Bristol by some margin.
